" 'This is for you' he said, holding one of the parts of the gold out to the monk. 'it's for your generosity to the pilgrims.'
'but this payment goes well beyond my generosity' the monk responded.
'Don't say that again. Life might be listening, and, give you less the next time' ". (
We often receive a present and believe is too much, maybe too luxurious or too pretty for us to have. But when life gives you something, don't question it or believe you don't deserve it because your devaluating yourself. And by devaluating yourself, you're bringing a not as compensating future. I have a very different idea from what most people have when it comes to religion. I believe that if you want something, you work for it, you get it; you don't pray and beg to this un-existent person that has every power in the world and he will come from heaven or paradise (whatever you call it) and bring you a miracle. You create your own miracles. Because at the end: every person you meet, every obstacle you have, every lesson you learn, every action you make from smiling to the waitress or fighting with the principal, every book you read, etc. brings me to the second quote:
"All things are one."
When you really think about it we're all different, but equal; smart, but stupid as hell; sane, but insane; strong, but weak; honest, but corrupt; pure, but wrecked and most of all, imperfect, but that's what makes us so perfect.
Everything's linked to each other, with invisible strings that we pull. You control what happens around you, living your life, on the path to accomplishing your dreams without interfering with other individuals. Live and let live.
Be yourself because those who matter don't care, and those who care don't matter. Everyone has their own reality and in-versed way of thinking how others should live their life's. But never about their own...
Feeling better and okay starts with yourself, you can't have a healthy relationship with someone if you're not okay with you, you can't expect for someone to love you if you don't love yourself.
I absolutely loved this book. It showed me the different perspectives there is to life, how everyone's dealing with their own problems and we must not interfere. It's very important to appreciate every little thing we have here and now, because once it's gone. We'll regret not relishing them when we had them beside us. Every problem we face is just a new lesson that will help us improve on ourselves, and improving on yourself bring you closer to your Personal Legend, your mission here on earth, your purpose of existence. It's very easy to be lazy and take for granted all the will we have right now but again, when it's gone, will regret not pursuing those dreams that seemed so possible at the beginning. My advice is treat people the way you'd like to be treated and love because you want to, because it makes you feel good. Do it for yourself and no one else.
