"Treasure is uncovered by the force of flowing water, and is is also buried by the same currents" (27)
By now Santiago's starting to realize what his Personal Legend is, his treasure. He talks to a very wise king that helps him understand this valuable lesson about dreams. Everything we do, will always push you a step back or a step forward. The steps backwards are not always bad because sometimes we need to see how bad we felt, how bad we screwed up or what we were missing to appreciate the present. When you really want something, you must get it, only you. I don't really believe in praying to someone so they can come from heaven and solve your problems. This is real life were talking about, this doesn't happen, when you want to get somewhere, be with someone or get something, all you need is yourself and nothing else. So when you sop trying, that's when you loose everything because as the quote says in different words is: when you have a dream that is meant to come true, your will will help you get it but this same will can make so blur that it to a point where you can't even distinguish what it was in the first place.
"When each day is the same as the next, it's because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day when the sun rises" (30).
This is so true, daily we hear people say thing's like "this is boring I want to get out of here, or this day was so ugly, nothing happened" which is the usual. But very few times we hear someone appreciate the day because things simply are. With this I mean, recognize the beauty of the simple things like watching the rain from your bed or the sound of it during school, the fact of being able to stay five more minutes in the morning, the self- satisfaction you feel after going to the gym, watching the sun or maybe just sharing time with someone you love. Now a days people only give credit to the sings that have a price like a Tiffany necklace or a nice tie, which I'm not going to lie, it's amazing when you get one. But thanks to the media we've forgotten about the beautiful things that will never have a price. This few minutes a day when we stop thinking about all the homework we have or the problem we need to solve are what truly matters because when we're old and we think about how we used to spend our good-old-days and realize all we did was worry, that's when you'll regret not recognizing the good things that happen every day.
