"It's not a battle of good against evil. It's a war between to forces that are fighting for the balance of power, and, when that type of battle begins, it lasts longer than others." (99)
Each time we have a problem with someone, we're always trying to put the blame on everyone but ourselves believing we're the good ones trying to win the price that comes with winning the battle against evil. But this is bullshit, because the one you're fighting with, is thinking the same thing but inverse: you're the bad one and they're right.
This quote defines every battle, battles from brothers and sisters to battles between countries. No one's wrong, but one is right because you're both just defending what you believe in. There are always three sides to every story: you're side, your opponents side and the truth. As I've said before in this blog, we never what's actually happening, we see what we want to see.
It's all a matter of perception and when different perceptions battle against each other; the truth has a way of getting lost.
"How do I guess at the future? Based on the omens of the present. The secret is here in the present. If you pay attention to the present, you can improve upon it. And, if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better. Each day, in itself, brings with it an eternity". (106)
Each day brings with it an eternity: what a marvelous way of getting through each day.
Every little thing about that quote is perfect. From the part that literally says: you control the future, the key is here and now. Everything that happens form the smallest thing to the biggest ones are consequences of your actions. You want love and happiness? Love all and smile because as The Beatles once said: "The love you take is equal to the love you make". If you're good to people, people will be good to you.
